(Feline 101)
This program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to gain employment as a professional cat groomer. It is the perfect to add on to your diploma program. You will complete one theory based online course Understanding & Taking Care of the Cat. You can complete this during your onsite training.
This course takes 1 month to complete. Upon completion of the one online course, you will complete one week Practical Application course Cat Grooming Basics - 40 clock hours.
Program Objective
Upon completion of this Program, you will understand and be able to bath, groom and style cats encountered in a pet grooming and styling salon in a compassionate, safe and gentle manner.
You will learn the following:

the history of the cat, temperament and behavior of the cat

the external anatomy, integumentary, skeletal, muscular, digestive, reproductive, urinary, respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, and endocrine systems of the cat.

different breeds and coats.

nutrition, disease and vaccinations, medical conditions and inherited disorders.

internal and external parasites, first aid including CPR.
Program Performance Objectives
You will learn the following technical procedures:

nail trimming, ear cleaning, dematting, bathing, drying, combing, brushing, carding, clippering,

scissoring and thinning.
You will learn the following salon procedures:

safe and gentle handling of the pet during all technical procedures

salon organization and sanitation

You read the study material and take the tests at your own pace with the express option. Express works great if you are on a time frame to complete the courses.
Perfect if you have previous experience working with dogs and cats and want to review the study material and then take the tests.

Option 2 is excellent if you prefer to have a class leader drive the discussion and participate with your classmates before taking the tests. A perfect choice for beginners to have the opportunity to participate in the discussion before testing. The course is open for one month with weekly discussions to prepare you for the multiple-choice tests required each week at the end of a unit.

Option 3 is great if you prefer a structured classroom, this is the option for you and recommended for the beginner. You will participate in discussions assignments and take quizzes to keep you on track to prepare for the multiple-choice tests at the end of each unit and required weekly.

OPTION 4 Onsite Course with Instructor in a Classroom.
The onsite course takes 6 hours to complete and does not include study and testing time. The onsite course is offered at the school and Nash Pet Care Education Summits.
This is an excellent method to discuss the class material with your onsite instructor and classmates. After the onsite, you continue your study online and take the required tests to receive your level and certification title.
